Beschreibung

Der Petitella bleheri, besser bekannt als Rotkopfsalmler, ist ein lebhafter und farbenfroher Salmler aus Südamerika. Charakteristisch für diese Art ist der leuchtend rote Kopf, der sich scharf vom silbrig-weißen Körper abhebt, sowie die schwarz-weiß gestreifte Schwanzflosse, die an eine Zielflagge erinnert. Beide Geschlechter erreichen eine Größe von etwa 4-5 cm. Rotkopfsalmler sind aufgrund ihrer intensiven Farben und ihres faszinierenden Schwarmverhaltens sehr beliebte Aquarienfische.

Herkunft und Lebensraum

Rotkopfsalmler stammen aus den klaren, sauerstoffreichen Flüssen des nördlichen Südamerikas, insbesondere aus dem Amazonasbecken. Sie bevorzugen weiches, leicht saures Wasser.

Vermehrung

Die Vermehrung des Rotkopfsalmlers ist möglich, jedoch anspruchsvoll. Diese Fische sind Laichräuber, weshalb ein dichtes Laichsubstrat notwendig ist, um die Eier zu schützen. Die Eiablage erfolgt in sehr weichem, saurem Wasser. Die Larven sind anfangs lichtempfindlich und benötigen feines Futter wie Infusorien, bevor sie zu Artemianauplien übergehen können. Die erfolgreiche Aufzucht der Jungfische erfordert Erfahrung und viel Pflege.

Fütterung

Rotkopfsalmler sind Allesfresser und nehmen sowohl tierische als auch pflanzliche Nahrung zu sich. Ideales Futter besteht aus hochwertigem Flockenfutter, feinem Granulat sowie gelegentlich Lebend- und Frostfutter wie Mückenlarven. Besonders rote Mückenlarven fördern die intensive Färbung der Fische.

Haltung

Rotkopfsalmler sind friedliche Schwarmfische, die in Gruppen ab 10 Tieren gehalten werden können, allerdings sind größere Gruppen von 25+ Tieren ideal um den Tieren ideale Bedingungen zu bieten. Sie bevorzugen ein gut bepflanztes Aquarium mit genügend Schwimmraum und Versteckmöglichkeiten. Die Mindestlange des Aquariums sollte 100 cm betragen, aber auch hier handelt es sich um das unterste Mindestmaß, bei deutlich größeren Aquarien und der entsprechenden Gruppengröße entfaltet dieser Fisch sein volles Potential.

Empfohlene Pflegeprodukte

Für kleine und mittlere Fische empfehlen wir ein passendes Futter in der richtigen Größe. Besonders geeignet sind langsam sinkende Granulate wie das Arka Bio Gran , StreamBiz Granulate oder die Granulate von Dr.Bassleer. Ergänzend dazu sollte regelmäßig Lebendfutter oder ganze Futtertiere verfüttert werden. Da die Fische eine empfindliche Schleimhaut haben empfehlen wir den Einsatz von Huminstoffen, wie das Liquid Humin+ oder auch Naturprodukten wie Seemandelbaumblätter oder Erlenzapfen.
Ebenfalls zur Pflege der Schleimhäute, sowie zur Unterstützung der Darmflora empfehlen wir den Einsatz von MikrobeLift TheraP
