Beschreibung

Der Rote Neon ist nach dam charakteristischen Roten Band bezeichnet, dass sich von unter dem Auge über den ganzen Bauch bis in die Schwanzwurzel zieht. Darüber ist der neon-blau schillernde Längsstreifen zu sehen. Männchen und Weibchen werden beide ca. 4-6 cm lang, ausgewachsene Weibchen sind in der Regel deutlich fülliger.

Herkunft und Lebensraum

Der Rote Neon ist über weite Teile des nördlichen Südamerika verbreitet. Dort bewohnt er huminstoff-reiche, weiche Gewässer.

Vermehrung

Eine Vermehrung des roten Neon ist schwer. Sehr saures und weiches Wasser mit pH Werten von ~5 und ca 25°C werden benötigt. Eine Vermehrung im Gesellschaftsaquarium ist quasi ausgeschlossen.

Fütterung

Rote Neons sind Allesfresser. In der Natur ernähren sie sich bevorzugt von Lebendfutter. Daher empfehlen wir abwechslungsreiche Fütterung mit proteinreichem Futter. Bevorzugt Lebend- und Frostfutter, sowie Granulat.

Haltung

Rote Neons sind recht ruhige und friedliche Fische. Die Vergesellschaftung ist in der Regel mit vielen auch etwas größeren Arten unproblematisch. Als Gruppentiere sollten sie auf jeden Fall in größeren Gruppen ab 10 Tieren gehalten werden. Bei stressfreier Haltung halten sich die Fische gerne im Freiwasser auf, einige höhere Pflanzen oder Strukturen sollten dennoch als Rückzugsort geboten werden.

Bei passender Haltung erreichen die Tiere ein Alter von bis zu 10 Jahren.

Empfohlene Pflegeprodukte

Für kleine und mittlere Fische empfehlen wir ein passendes Futter in der richtigen Größe. Besonders geeignet sind langsam sinkende Granulate wie das Arka Bio Gran , StreamBiz Granulate oder die Granulate von Dr.Bassleer. Ergänzend dazu sollte regelmäßig Lebendfutter oder ganze Futtertiere verfüttert werden. Da die Fische eine empfindliche Schleimhaut haben empfehlen wir den Einsatz von Huminstoffen, wie das Liquid Humin+ oder auch Naturprodukten wie Seemandelbaumblätter oder Erlenzapfen.
Ebenfalls zur Pflege der Schleimhäute, sowie zur Unterstützung der Darmflora empfehlen wir den Einsatz von MikrobeLift TheraP
